HiPex - High Power Extension
Loadbox
Loadbox
HiPex by Konrad Technologies is a new and versatile system on the market, for flexible distribution of high power signals, like those found in the automotive industry. In addition to this, HiPex is also a solution for applying and switching loads in a system test.
Sample applications include durability tests for automotive components with high performance, like ECUs for the body electronics field. The system offers the possibility to design complex test runs. It is equipped with several power and signal busses, which serve as a means of interconnection for measurement signals, current supply and load / system signals. The galvanic isolation between application side and PXI instrumentation allows safe operation. This makes the system particularly suitable for applications in the durability test and for complex software system tests.

HiPex System Architecture
Integrated Backplane
A HiPex system is equipped with an integrated backplane, which can be used to contact plug-in cards corresponding to the signal conditioning or application side. For maximum flexibility, the backplane holds two buses per chassis. These buses cover ten slots each and can be connected with each other. Each bus is divided into a signal and system bus, as well as a power bus.
The backplane has following particular features:

System-Controller
A HiPex system is controlled by means of a FPGA board in the host PC and a corresponding system controller in the HiPex rack. With maximum expansion, up to six HiPex racks can be controlled by one FPGA controller. Each HiPex I/O module is equipped with an add-on board for communication with the overall system. All signals coming from the data or address bus are available on this board, as well as 6 x 16 TTL signals to control the relays for specific tasks. This add-on board is available as a separate module, in order to simplify the development of new HiPex I/O modules.
HiPex I/O Modules
A number of standard boards are available for HiPex. We distinguish between two types of modules: system modules for the signal conditioning side and modules for the application side. Depending on the customer's project, new application cards can be developed by Konrad or the customer himself, if necessary.
