Functional Test (FCT)

For the production of electronic goods and components it is necessary to test the quality of the products. Depending on the complexity of the produced products this can happen either in multiple single steps in between of the several production steps or as a complete end-of-line test. Especially this final inspection is very important because the interaction of the pre-assembled subsystems can generate unpredictable problems which can end up in a negative impact on the expected life time of the product.

For instance, failures during the production process or defective supplied parts can result in bad products in the assembly line. For this reason adequate test equipment has to be used at the end of automated or manual production lines. Such test systems are an essential part of the corporate quality assurance system.

Konrad Technologies - Functional Test Systems with Tandem Adapter

Konrad Technologies builds such test systems, tailored for the specific requirements of the electronic manufacturing sites. We build systems based on open industry standards like PXI. Typical functional test systems are implemented as hybrid systems. Hybrid means in this context two things:

  • As a measurement technology standard, only rarely just one technology is used. In most cases, Konrad Technologies uses PXI as the core technology and integrates additional instruments around which are connected via the proven GPIB and LAN interfaces. Examples for this are power supplies or RF instruments in the upper frequency range.

  • Functional test systems are often combined with in-circuit test by Konrad Technologies. It thos especially make sense with smaller or middle size products with high complexity. The powerful Konrad 8500 LEON test system family is also based on PXI and is therefore predestined  for such a combination.

Beside of the integration of standard products of well-known manufacturers like National Instruments and Agilent, we use also our own powerful system components and extending technologies. Examples for this include the PXI analog bus extension ABex® and our flexible HiPex system for switching high power signals and applying loads as well as for signal conditioning of standard DAQ boards for special requirements, e.g. in the automotive industry.

The individual test software is built in most cases by using NI LabVIEW and the test sequencer NI TestStand. To increase productivity we developed powerful tools, like the KT Sequence Generator as well as our comprehensive test step library which include many already implemented measurement and analysis functions.
